Jessica + Makayla | Southern Illinois Family Photographer

Southern Illinois Family Photographer – Hooray for Spring!! Now, the nice days are still few and far between right now, but, on this day, the weather was warm and the light was beautiful! I took mom + daughter to this new beautiful location that I recently discovered, and we had a lot of fun together! Of course, Makayla was WAY more into the bubble machine that I brought with me than she was in sitting/smiling for pictures. Can you blame her? Haha, that’s what you get with an 18 month old 😉 Hey, as long as my clients have a good time, especially the kids (no offense parents! I make sure you enjoy yourselves too!), then I consider that a success. I have so many gorgeous photos of mom + daughter interacting with each other, and quite frankly, these types of photos are always mine and my clients’ favorites. Everyone wants the traditional everyone looking at the camera with a smile on their face picture, but it’s the pictures that show connection that really speak to me. While these two are interacting, you can feel the love that they have for each other in each photo. That, in my opinion, is what family portraiture is all about. It’s about capturing YOUR family, with YOUR family’s unique personality and mannerisms. I don’t want cheesy, staged photos. I want beautifully lit photos that make me feel something. I want to feel love, joy and togetherness while I look at a family photo. That is my goal for each session. I want each of my clients to leave with a photo that truly captures who they are, whether it’s serious, silly, loving, etc.

Thank you so much Jessica (and Makayla!) for giving me the opportunity to photograph the two of you, yet again. I photographed Jessica’s maternity session, and I photographed Makayla every 3 months during her first year. I am so honored when clients choose to come back to me, and I love being a part of their journey through life 🙂
